Best spices from Sumatra, Indonesia for the world

Owner Profile

Mr. Daswir started his spice trading business in 1996. Initially, he brought and sold various spices (cardamom, cloves, betel nut, cinnamon, etc.) directly to Malaysia, and things went smoothly until he found a regular buyer there.

In 1998, Mr. Daswir married Mrs. Era Plaza. It was also in this year that he met an Indian buyer living in Malaysia. He requested Rijec grade cinnamon, and they have maintained a good working relationship ever since. They then tried to supply various grades of cinnamon locally (Padang, Medan, Jakarta, etc.), including supplying local spice sellers.

In 2018, a buyer from Turkey arrived in search of cinnamon, and they collaborated on a 20-foot AA grade 8cm package. When the coronavirus pandemic hit Indonesia around 2022, the contract was terminated for various reasons. Since then, Mr. Daswir has only shipped locally.

Mr. Daswir and Mrs. Era Plaza have four children, and Dinda Tiara, one of them, is interested in developing the business. She has been involved in the business since junior high school. When Dinda was in high school (MAN 2 Padang Panjang), she and her parents obtained a business license and named it CV Cassiavera Marapi. After graduating from college (UIN Bukittinggi with a bachelor’s degree in economics), she saw a significant opportunity in her parents’ small business. She decided to manage the business and wanted to resume exporting.

Because her business can help many people, such as local farmers who can add value to their cinnamon and earn money. Furthermore, this business provides jobs for the local community and empowers them.
